Haycliffe Dance Team wins npopwer Yorkshire Junior Team of the Year

The Dance Team has competed against mainstream schools from across West Yorkshire and, in 2007, won the West Yorkshire Regional Finals of the Global Rock Challenge – an anti-drugs and crime, mainstream dance competition run by the ‘be your best foundation'.

English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) is the national body responsible for developing sport for disabled people in England. We work closely with the following five National Disability Sports Organisations (NDSOs) recognised by Sport England to develop sporting opportunities for the 11 million disabled people in England:

› Willcox and Graham retain singles titles at National Deaf Tennis Championships

Surrey and Wiltshire-based coaches Peter Willlcox and Catherine Graham won the Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles titles for the eighth time and fifth time respectively on Bank Holiday as the 2008 National Deaf Tennis Championships.

› North East DSE Junior Regional Athletics Championships

Special Guests Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson, Stephen Miller & Lee Hunter watched 230 athletes compete at the championships. Over 60 athletes qualified for th DSE National Finals and a lucky few were invited to meet Mr Tony Blair to participate in a sports demonstration afterwards.

› Advocacy and Activity Buddy Scheme launched

English Federation of Disability Sport has received funding to support the development of an Advocacy and Activity Buddy Scheme. The aim is to increase participation of disabled people within sport.

› Durham County FA Level 1 Coaching Course Tue 6th May 2008 to Sat 31st May 2008

Durham County FA will be delivering a A Level 1 Coaching Course aimed at people with a disability or people who work with disabilities. The course will be held over 9 sessions beteween May 6th and May 31st at Houghton Kepier College Houghton le Spring.

› Disability Target Shooting Taster Day Sun 11th May 2008

Come and explore your potential at the Disability Target Shooting Taster Day in association with National Shooting Week and Altrincham Rifle and Pistol Club. The event will run from 10am - 3pm.
