› Seren Jones competes for Swindon Road Club 16.12.2008

Eight year old Seren Jones took part in her first Cyclo Cross race in September 2008, competing for Swindon Road Club. It may not seem that significant for an eight year old to take part in a Cyclo Cross race. Seren was born with multiple lower limb impairments and will continue to have treatment and surgery for throughout her lifetime.

› GB Disabled Triathlete Development Squad 16.12.2008

The first training day for the 2009 proved to be a huge success. The day consisted of lectures, race planning and practical training in the 50m swimming pool, delivered by squad’s team of experienced disabled triathlete coaches. Elite triathletes Dan and Dom Brook shared their knowledge and experiences with the athletes and joined them in the pool, offering tips and addition coaching support. › EFDS welcomes new BPA Chair 10.12.2008

In welcoming Tim Reddish's election to the post of BPA Chair, Colin Chaytors EFDS Chief Executive formally acknowledged the achievements and "debt" disability sport in the UK owes to Mike Brace, the outgoing chair. Mike has been a driving force for change within elite disability sport over the years whilst remaining a firm friend and supporter of grassroots provision. EFDS will be working with Tim and the new BPA Board to build on the excellent foundations that now exist to ensure that disabled people can access and enjoy the greatest possible range and quality of sport in the run up to London 2012".

› London Sports Forum for Disabled People elects new Chair and Vice-Chair 05.12.2008

London Sports Forum for Disabled People is pleased to announce the appointment of Tracey McCillen as Chair and Jayne Kilgallen as Vice Chair of their new board of Trustees elected at the AGM on 27th November. Tracey McCillen is National Director of The UK Sports Association for People with Learning Disability (UKSA) and has previously held positions in the International Sports Federation (INAS-FID) and various commercial firms. Jayne Kilgallen is Director of Operations at The Avenues Trust and has held positions in the NHS, voluntary and independent organisations.

› British Disabled Fencing Association website launched 26.11.2008

The British Disabled Fencing Association (BDFA) is the governing body for the paralympic sport of Wheelchair Fencing in Britain has launched a website. This website aims to inform fencers, coaches and anyone else interested in learning more about the sport of Wheelchair Fencing in Great Britain. The BDFA has something for everyone and can provide a path to becoming a paralympic champion, a regular workout among friends or a social base with the odd bit of excercise thrown in. In other words it is as intense and ambitious as you want it to be.
