Resources to support providers to run a volunteer scheme

AABS LogoAdvocacy and Activity Buddy Scheme (AABS)  aims to increase participation by disabled people in sport or physical activity. The project supports sport and physical activity providers to implement a formal, in-house volunteer scheme.

The AABS project has two strands: supporting providers to be more inclusive and on-line training for volunteers. Resources and training tools have been developed and are available free of charge.

The resource will give clubs and leisure facilities templates and tips to set up a sustainable volunteer scheme.


AABS on-line volunteer training can be accessed by following this link. The training is split into six modules and will give volunteers activity buddies the skills to support disabled people to access sport and physical activity. The modules include: the benefits of volunteering, the role of a buddy; what a buddy needs to know to support a disabled person.
