Get your skates on for Inclusive Ice Skating

Inspire Peterborough has announced a new programme of Inclusive Ice Skating in partnership with Planet Ice Peterborough.

The programme will enable families who have disabled parents or children to meet up weekly, learn new skills, have fun and spend time together as a family.

Inclusive Ice Skating has been funded by Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day Community Cash programme, with support from the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.

Inspire Peterborough is an arm of Disability Peterborough, a locally-registered disability charity.

The sessions will run from Friday 5 June from 17:15 to 18:15, and run weekly until 18 March 2016, except for public holidays. The cost? Only £2 per person, which includes skate hire.

Inclusive Skating will include a family play session where toys will be available to encourage interaction and learning, a similar format to the popular Ice Tots session currently run by Planet Ice on Sunday mornings.

There will also be group lessons for those who would like to learn to skate and introducing ice hockey and/or sledge hockey. These sessions are aimed at adults and children aged five upwards, and their families and carers.
