More golden moments as Brown strikes gold
Britain’s Paralympians added four golds and 16 medals to their ever-growing tally on day six at the London 2012 Paralympic Games. GB remain in second place on the table, level pegging with Russia on 23 golds but with more medals overall.
In the archery, Danielle Brown held her nerve to keep the Compound title as Mel Clarke took her to the very last arrow.
Gold and two silvers for Britain’s riders: Sophie Christiansen became the first GB athlete to win three golds with a comfortable victory in the Freestyle test.
Heather Frederiksen defended her S8 100m Backstroke title in style, finding her best form of the season when it mattered most.
David Weir added 1500m gold to his bulging medal bag just 48 hours after winning the 5000m at the Olympic Stadium.

Archery: Brown retained her title beating teammate Mel Clarke in a nail-biting all-British women’s Compound (Open) final that went down to the very last arrow after the Britons had removed Russian opposition in the semi-finals.
Athletics: Weir was simply too good for the rest, sprinting away over the last 200m of the T54 1500m to take his second victory. Paul Blake added a silver in the T36 400m while David Devine and the women’s relay team bagged bronze.
Boccia: The GB quartet of Nigel Murray, Dan Bentley, David Smith and Zoe Robinson bounced back to take bronze, beating Portugal 7-5 for the medal, but Peter and Stephen McGuire missed out on a podium place in the BC4 Pairs.
Equestrian: Christiansen scored 84.750 to win the grade Ia test by nearly 5%. It was Britain’s 11th Equestrian medal of the Games after Sophie Wells and Deb Criddle won their second individual silvers in the grade IV and III categories.
Football 5-a-side: A 1-0 defeat to Iran leaves David Clarke’s team out of medal contention. They play China on Thursday in the crossover classifciation match.
Goalball: GB’s women secured a quarter-final berth with a 5-0 demolition of Denmark, while the men ended their London 2012 campaign with another heavy defeat, 7-1.
Sailing: Helena Lucas leads the 2.4mR by 11 points after her third win in succession, while the SKUDS are third and the Sonars sixth.
Shooting: Matt Skelhon picked up his second medal of the Games when he bagged bronze in the R6 50m Rifle prone SH1 after Karen Butler and Ben Jesson failed to make the final.
Sitting Volleyball: Britain’s women suffered a 3-0 defeat to Brazil, have still to win a set in the tournament and will now fight for seventh spot.
Swimming: Frederiksen never faltered en route to her second S8 Backstroke gold, one of five more medals for GB swimmers in the pool, including silver and a European record for Steph Millward and bronze for Ellie Simmonds.
Wheelchair Basketball: GB’s women battled hard against Germany but lost their quarter-final to the Beijing silver medallists, 55-44. They face China on Thursday in their first classification match.
Wheelchair Fencing: Justine Moore was eliminated from the Individual Foil event in the preliminary rounds but has the Epee to come.
Wheelchair Tennis: The Quadfather’s reign came to an end when Peter Norfolk lost his Quad Singles quarter-final against Shraga Weinberg of Israel in three sets. But Gordon Reid is in the men’s Singles quarter-finals, while Lucy Shuker and Jordanne Whiley are in the women’s Doubles semis.
