Entries open for Disability Sport Events Table Tennis Grand Prix Event

On 15 and 16 June, the National Table Tennis Championships will be held at Lammas Leisure Centre in Nottingham. It is the first Grand Prix event for disability table tennis and delivered by Disability Sport Events, an English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) programme. Entry forms are now available online.

Performances of players such as Will Bayley at the Paralympic Games in London have raised the profile of table tennis. Players from the national squad will be tested by their upcoming peers on home soil again.

These Championships are part of the English Table Tennis Association’s (ETTA) programme of disability table tennis events. A record number of players attended the British Table Tennis Association for the Disabled (BTTAD) in March and new and established players will take part. There will be singles, open singles and open doubles competitions.

Judy Rogers, ETTA National Programme Manager for Disability Table Tennis commented:

“We want to see a legacy within disability table tennis following London 2012 and providing more events for players at all levels is part of our ambition. The ETTA aim to increase the number of opportunities for disabled table tennis players to compete and improve within the game. With more players coming in to the game we also want to assist the development of the talent we have discovered through the Playground to Podium programme over the last few years and find future stars.”
