Places still available for RYA Sailability Multi-class Regatta

Entry forms are now available for the seventh RYA Sailability Multiclass Regatta which takes place at Rutland Sailing Club on 9 -11 August 2013.

Sponsored by Sport England and the Joan Braithwaite Sailing Trust, the RYA Sailability Multiclass Regatta is the largest of its type in the country and is open to those who race in the following classes: Challenger, Access, 2.4mR, SKUD 18, Laser Stratos, Artemis, Neo 495, Kinsman, Squib and Sonar classes.

The weekend kicks off with a race training day on Friday, offering on-water and shore based training sessions for both newcomers and more advanced sailors, with a fish and chip supper to round off the day.

A full day of class racing takes place on the Saturday followed by an evening regatta dinner.

The weekend culminates with prize giving presentations including awards for the top boats in each class and the prestigious Ken Ellis trophy. So whatever your ability- from first time racer to Paralympic level, the event has something for everyone.

RYA Sailability Manager Debbie Blachford said:

“The Multiclass Regatta is a fantastic showcase of the talent we have and welcomes sailors from across the globe. It’s a great social event too with many spectators coming along to support the sailors and to meet other disabled people who share a common interest in the sport”.

Richard Parker who travels from Switzerland to compete in the Neo 495 class says:

“We choose to come to the Multiclass Regatta as it’s a great opportunity to sail with other boats, see other classes on the water and to meet other people”.

The entry fee to take part in the event is from £10 per person. Tickets for the Friday night fish and chip supper, and the Saturday night Regatta Dinner are also available to book.
