The WDSA (UK) quick steps to a new name, Para Dance UK

The Wheelchair Dance Sport Association (WDSA) UK are reinvigorating themselves with a change of name to Para Dance UK as 10 November.

This new focus to the organisation will see many important and exciting changes, but their status as the national governing body for Para Dance Sport and inclusive dance professionals in the UK remains same.

Para Dance UK will pick up where they left off, developing highly competitive athletes for the international field as well as successfully continuing to run their new instructor course learning system.

There will be a new Para Dance Spot focussed course added in early 2018. For more additions keep up to date with us on Twitter, @ParaDanceUK. The name may have changed, the foundation of the organisation has not. They will continue to develop an infrastructure to ensure that ‘Everyone Can Dance’.

Patrick McGeough, CEO, said:

“This change allows us to access more people in the UK. In the last couple of years especially we’ve shifted focus to expand our horizons for us to be open to all disabilities and not just wheelchair users. Changing to Para Dance UK will make that change clearer as well as setting out a clear focus for the many years ahead.”

The new name will be officially launched on 10 November at a forum meeting to instructors and members. The UK National Championships on 11 November will be the charity’s first major event under the new name.
