The Panathlon Challenge has been benefiting young disadvantaged people since 1996 and has been funded by a mix of commercial sponsors, government funding and charitable trusts. Panathlon has invested over £5 million in opportunities for young people playing competitive sport during this time.
The Equality Standard - The first ever equality Standard for sport was launched in November 2004. It is a framework for assisting sports organisations to widen access and reduce inequalities in sport and physical activity from under represented individuals, groups and communities.

Sport in Mind is an independent mental health charity founded in 2011 by Neil Harris, Timothy Waters and Tony Young to provide people experiencing mental health problems with the opportunity to play sport and exercise in a supported environment. Their aim is to use sport to promote mental well-being, help aid recovery, encourage social inclusion and empower people experiencing mental health problems to build a positive future for themselves. * Mental health problems include: anxiety, addiction, obsession, phobia, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorder, schizophrenia or an eating disorder.
