Great Britain Rugby team win European Championships and secure Paralympic spot

Great Britain's wheelchair rugby players have secured a place at next year's Paralympics with a victory at the European Championships. The champions were involved in a nail-biting match, in which Great Britain scored in the final two seconds to beat Sweden 49-48.

The GB's 53-40 victory over Germany in the semi-final of the European Championships in Finland was enough to qualify the British team for the Rio Paralympics.

Former title holders Sweden led by a point at the end of the first two quarters. The scores level at 35-35 going into the final period.

The remaining minutes were full of tension but Britain crossed the goal line with less than two seconds left.

The British team was one of the pre-tournament favourites and relentless to the end, they prevented their rivals from ending their dream of leaving Finland with an unbeaten record. Britain has now equalled Sweden's record of four victories in the competition.
