Special Olympics GB's National Games 2017 logo unveiled

Special Olympics Great Britain (GB) is delighted to unveil the logo and visual identity for its National Summer Games to be held in Sheffield in 2017. Over 2,500 athletes with learning disabilities are expected to take part in the five day event next year.

Special Olympics GB worked with two Sheffield based creative agencies, Test Creative and Glue to produce the visual identity for the Games - Special Olympics GB's flapship event, which is held every four years.

Special Olympics GB’s CEO Karen Wallin, commented:

“It is important to us to work with local companies to bring the Special Olympics National Games to life from within the city.
“With the expertise of Glue and Test Creative, we were delighted with the creativity, energy and support delivered given for what will be a magnificent Special Olympics GB event in one of the country’s foremost sporting cities.”

On Tuesday 26 January, athletes Alex Thompson and Niall Guite joined the Lord Mayor of Sheffield and Councillor Talib Hussain to unveil the new logo in Sheffield.

Tom Barker, Creative Director at Test Creative, said:

“Glue and Test Creative are delighted to have been approached by Special Olympics GB to help devise the Games logo and accompanying website, respectively, for the Sheffield 2017 National Games.
“This is a unique opportunity to work with a fantastic and growing charity over the next two years and to share this special website with all of the patrons, athletes, families and volunteers who will be in attendance at the games and supporting both nationally and internationally.

The Special Olympics GB National Summer Games will take place from 7-11 August 2017. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on 8 August at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane stadium.
