Dates announced for beginner tennis camps for deaf people

Tennis Foundation, Great Britain's leading tennis charity has announced dates for two new tennis camps for deaf and hard of hearing people. The camps are ideal for beginners who have never played before!

Tennis is a great activity for disabled people, it can be easily adapted for people with specific impairments or health conditions. The new tennis camps for people with a hearing impairment are a fantastic introduction to the sport for those who have never played before. They provide people an opportunity to learn the basics of the sport and develop their skills in a fun accessible setting.

Upcoming beginner tennis camps for deaf and hard of hearing people:

  • Sunday 13 March at Leeds Beckett University, West Yorkshire
  • Sunday 3 July at Nottingham Tennis Centre, East Midlands

At the camp LTA licenced tennis coaches will take you through a day of fun activities, where you can learn the basics of the game in a fun and social environment. They will advise you on where you can continue to play at a tennis venue local to you so you can continue to play afterwards.

In 2015, Tennis Foundation in association with UK Deaf Sport hosted the inaugural World Deaf Tennis Championships at Nottingham Tennis Centre. The event was a fantastic showcase for Great Britain's elite deaf tennis players at both junior and senior level. It was also a great platform to increase awareness of tennis for deaf people and encourage people to give it a go.
