The government has published its Disability Action Plan, here Adam Blaze, CEO Activity Alliance responds.

The government’s Disability Action Plan sets out what it aims to do to improve disabled people’s everyday lives. Following its publication Adam Blaze, Chief Executive Activity Alliance said:

“We are pleased to see that the government has finally published its Disability Action Plan which outlines some positive steps to support disabled people. We also welcome the government’s commitment to explore the possibility of the UK hosting the Special Olympics World Summer Games and its proposals to improve accessible playgrounds.
"However, we are disappointed the government has not taken this opportunity to be bolder in its aspirations. The government should aim to create a more accessible society where disabled people can participate fully and experience a higher quality of life.
"The government must go further to align this Action Plan with its Get Active Strategy. Doing this will help build a healthier nation where disabled people can benefit from the health and wellbeing outcomes of being physically active.”
