Research project: Healthcare professionals

We're looking to share success stories of how healthcare professionals are supporting disabled people into physical activity.

Activity Alliance is conducting this research to find out what is working well near you. It could be anything from social prescribing or NHS professionals signposting to community sports groups or gyms. In addition it could be specialist nurses running targeted physios for specific disability groups – or anything else that helps disabled people get active.

We want to hear from disabled people, healthcare professionals, health commissioners, physical activity leaders, social prescribers or sports and leisure professionals who have examples of how healthcare professionals are supporting disabled people to be more physically active.

This research will build a set of case studies that illustrate good practice in healthcare approaches to supporting disabled people into physical activity.  We know this is particularly important because the health, social care and voluntary sector landscape has changed a great deal in the last couple of years, and lots of areas are looking for inspiration.

These case studies will focus on the experiences of disabled people (the user perspective) as well as the experiences of healthcare professionals and the sports and activity sector (the commissioner/provider perspective), to give a rounded view of what good looks like.

Who do I contact?

If you know of great work going on that you think would make a good case study, please  email our research partners Skye and Lucy at Better Decisions Together on hello@betterdecisionstogether.com or complete this online form.
