Disability Sport Events
Disability Sport Events (DSE) is the renowned EFDS events programme. The team delivers regional, national and international sports events for disabled people. The aim is to increase participation opportunities at every level, giving disabled people a choice of activity. These can vary from high participation sports like swimming and athletics, to multi-sports festivals.
It is essential to increase participation opportunities at whatever level disabled people choose to be active. DSE's work means more disabled people can access sport in more places, whether they have potential talent or just wish to be active. These opportunities help to increase health, well being in addition to confidence, which are essential for everyday life.
For many disabled people, there are more barriers than just finding a sport event which they want to take part in. Often club facilities, transport availability and support create more questions for disabled people wanting to participate. DSE can help advise in these areas.
EFDS has worked with many National Governing Bodies of sport and other external partners to share their skills and knowledge in every area of event management. This could be delivery, facility sourcing, welfare and risk assessments, officiating and volunteering. These can be quite detailed, so DSE's better practices can allow partners to learn more for their own sport.
