As a charity and leading voice for disabled people in sport and activity, Activity Alliance works hard to diversify our income streams and generate additional income in new ways.

  • In 2023 we delivered a large-scale inclusion project with The Football Association (FA) to encourage more local football clubs to open their doors to disabled people. We supported the FA to develop an online toolkit and disability training workshop to support grassroots football clubs in growing disability provision.
  • In November 2023 we renewed our partnership with Lions Clubs British Isles. For more than 20 years, Lions Clubs have been supporting Activity Alliance regional games and National Junior Athletics Championships. By fundraising and volunteering, Lions Clubs allow the event to be a success year on year.
  • We were thrilled to have the People’s Partnership sponsor our National Junior Athletics Championships in 2023. Their support enabled us to deliver as fantastic two-day event enabling young disabled people from across the country to compete.
  • In October 2022, we relaunched a new version of the Inclusive Activity Programme (IAP) complete with accreditation from CIMSPA and continual professional development points for learners. IAP provides specialist inclusion training on how to make activities fun and inclusive for everyone. Since the re-launch there is increased interest from many including National Governing Bodies of sport for their coaching and development workforces.
  • Our online Customer Service Training supports those who work in leisure to ensure their processes are fully inclusive and accessible. The course can increase workforce confidence and knowledge, especially for those who work in customer-facing roles to engage with and support disabled people.
  • We also provide inclusive research and inclusive communications training and consultancy services for multiple partners.

This strategic and financial development ensures that we can continue to improve disabled people’s inclusion and involvement in sport and activity at all levels for many years to come.

Our new internal income generation group meets to discuss and plan ahead. This includes on our fundraising strategy, where we engage in various events during the year. One of these events is the London Marathon. We are proud to receive the support from many generous fundraisers during the year who raise money for us in their way.

Get Out Get Active (GOGA)

Funded by Spirit of 2012, Sport England and the London Marathon Foundation, we created the GOGA programme back in 2016 to bring disabled and non-disabled people together to be active. It strengthens community spirit, increases confidence and improves mental health for all involved.

In the latest GOGA Impact Report (March 2020 - October 2023):

Group 10c green

GOGA reached a total of 136,521 people

Group 6 orange

GOGA supported six in 10 people to do more physical activity.

Group 4 white

GOGA supported past partners to secure more than £1.5 million of funding investment for ongoing GOGA related activities.
